H&Askham are committed to Health and Safety in all aspects of our operations. As the company has grown and developed we have worked hard to improve our policies and processes, however it has also been important that as a business we nurture the team responsible for implementing and managing these processes.
Victoria Moore is a long standing member of the Askhams team, making a valuable contribution to the administration, project management and HSEQ functions. Having completed her IOSH Managing Safely qualification in 2014, Victoria went on to pass her NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety last year. Victoria has now been granted Technical Member status of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety. Technical status is awarded to members who have an accredited qualification coupled with a suitable level of work experience in the field. In order to uphold her status Victoria will have to maintain her Continuing Professional Development record which will aid her in to ensure ongoing development and improvement in the skills associated with performing her duties.
Director of Engineering, Nick Heale, is keen to support Victoria, and all members of the team in undertaking training that helps the individual and business equally.
“Training, particularly courses related to Health & Safety are very important to the company; our clients, staff and other associates need to have confidence not only in the H&Askham brand, but the individuals that uphold this. Vickie has worked hard to achieve her qualifications, but more importantly has actively sought to utilise what she has learnt in her everyday role really making a difference to our business.”
Victoria has very much enjoyed both the learning experience of the IOSH and NEBOSH training, and the challenge of returning to the organisation and implementing new, and developing the existing HSEQ Management systems.
“Through my health and safety training I feel that I have gained extremely valuable knowledge, particularly with regards to best working practices and legislation. It is so important that as a business we stay abreast of updates of any regulatory changes that affect our staff and the work we undertake”. Referring to her membership to IOSH Victoria added, “Being formally recognised as a Technical Member of the institute has improved my confidence as I undertake my role because the endorsement demonstrates and confirms my competence in the field.”
Working in the field of HV installation, often in the offshore environment Health and Safety remains at the forefront of the company’s agenda. For more information on the types of projects undertaken please visit the company website.

2015 has been a big year for H&Askham. As well as welcoming new members of staff to our team and further expanding our client base it was out 10th Anniversary year. The highlight of our anniversary celebrations was our charity golf day in July at which we raised almost £8000 for 3 very important charities.
Each of our chosen charities has very personal connections to H&Askham. The organisations help to bring a valuable and direct benefit to the families and friends of members of our team
Recently we were incredibly proud to host a dinner to present the cheques to representatives of the charities. It was fitting that that this event took place at Bexleyheath Golf Club, where we had raised the money in the first place.
Our team came together to enjoy good food and good company to see the fruition of all the hard work we had carried out earlier in the year.
The first cheque was presented to the Meningitis Research Foundation. One of our team members suffered the tragedy of losing his granddaughter to Meningitis at a very young age.
The second was presented to Liam and Louise Smith for Reverse Rett. Rett Syndrome is a condition which affect young girls and with which Louise suffers. We hope that our contribution to the charity can help to make lives of little girls like Louise a little better and contribute in some small way to eventually finding a cure for the disease.
We had previously presented a cheque to Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan do incredible work to support people affected by cancer. This is a particularly special charity for us as the father of one of our directors died of cancer and Macmillan were able to offer the family invaluable support.
We are so proud to have been able to help these charities in some small way and incredibly grateful to all those who have donated their time and money this year to help us raise this money.
